A very revealing and emotional interview, Leontyne Price shares her feelings about her history and career. There are 4 parts in total, watch them all you won't regret it.
Just watched her perform. Blessed beautiful voice.
I got to talk to her several times after concerts. She was exactly like this! My girlfriend had black curly hair Ms Price said ' that hair is GOR geous! Are you gonna be the next Carmen?" I love this women.
Thank you, thank you, I have been looking for this segment for ages. Are you sure its 10 yrs ago?
I heard she became drunk after being dismissed by her ex husband. It might be untrue
Typically a soprano: arrogant....self. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 As a tenor (approaching baritenor) this makes me laugh
Wonderful!
Wonderful voice. What vocal talent in her family - Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick, Cissy Houston, as well as beautiful looks!
Well…
She did seem very conceited but for you people who don't understand the struggles of being an afro-american our people had to fight and die just to be able to freely breathe same air as anyone else so she had to hold her head high at all times and wear that persona because she was a first‼️For the black people and I'm sure it wasn't easy😤
🙄
Mary Violet Leontyne Price is a mezzo soprano - with an amazing spirit and a phenomenal gift. We have the pleasure of having her among us. As of 02-10-2022, 95 years and counting. Lirico - spinto
She is a lyric soprano.
Beautiful artist and person!!! Such a great interview - wish it was just 1 video - but anyway thanks for posting!
Yes - I would like to change the end of the plot so Aida survives and flees to her own country and lives happily ever after. But then we would not have the last part of act 4 - which is my favorite part of Aida- a masterpiece of great music - so just for the sake of perfection I would keep the plot the way it is with the tomb scene as well.
God bless her btw. what year does this stem from?
Did she attend Morgan State University?
Just saw last night on Pluto!
Excellent interview !
An amazing talent and voice.
the greatest soprano to ever interpret opera...and a vocal genius. She found her 'diva gear' singing Verdi...but her Strauss interpretations, weren't chopped liver. And as bombastic and dramatic as Strauss is, he begged for a voice like Ms Price's to do him justice. And she did that, hands down.
Ms. Leontyne Price, Ms. Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston, Ms. Cissy Houston. Whitney Houston, Dee Dee Warwick, and the rest of that entire family (because there are more that are not famous) are full of powerful great vocalist and talent!! Ms. Dionne and Leotyne carry similar poise, sophistication and attitude when speaking and singing. Wow!!
Happy Birthday ❤️❤️❤️I love U❤️❤️❤️
Happy Birthday, #LeontynePrice95! 🌹🌹🌹
I had the honor to see her
I see her fire.
I love Leontyne Price but God is she ever full of herself !
That is because her life has always been about her. She separated from her husband in 1967 and divorced in 1972, she had no children, so it is not strange that she is her own topic! I am not defending her, but, just saying I totally understand her behaviour.
When you have reached the height of success that she has reached, you have the right to be full of yourself.
This is so charming, enlightening, realistic, inspiring....awesome!
I Love Her She's The Grand High Opera Diva ❤️💯 🎶🎵🎼
Meeting Leontyne Price at a record signing in S.F. in 1996 was a dream come true for me ; such a beautiful woman and person.
I loved, loved and respected how she managed her voice and career. If she could have dropped the black, poor me, stuff and learned how to pronounce a few words, well, she was the top anyway.
Oy vey. As they say in the South.
@@liedersanger1 No, what we say in the south is that "It's time for a hangin' "
@@josephcollins6033 That’s so cute. I thought that was over.
@@liedersanger1 Thanks, you going to a nice brunch this morning, maybe buy some shoes later before the pride parade?
@@josephcollins6033 Are you auditioning for a revival “The Boys in the Band”?
Poor little black girl, so oppressed, no advantages at all. She was always such a racist; that chip on her shoulder! Such a glorious sound. Sad that she employed such "soul" mannerisms in her later singing. She was one of the greats. However, you can dress 'em up...
What about that monkey on your shoulder?
@@xavieralberto1176 I think you need to work on your English; and get a job, too, "Xavier".
Joseph Collins. What a wacko comment.
@@liedersanger1 How silly you are. Everything I said above ( and below ) is accurate. I don't imagine you know anything valid about the voice. And, you probably are a cruel, looney Liberal.
@@liedersanger1 David, I don't want to do this. I regret responding as I did; saw your comment about "whacko' and reacted. I do know a great deal about the voice and singing. It was/is my career. I know the science. Price was a goddess, no question. What I initially said is correct; you just don't often hear people pounce against the reverse racism thing. You and I both love her singing very much.
I swear I have been channeling Leontyne’s energy lately. Her vibes and mine are one in the same
You should be so lucky!
Yesssss
I LOVE THIS INTERVIEW 😀 ❤ !!!...Miss Price DEFINES The Word DIVA !!!....AND SHE KNOWS IT !!!!! ......
Ummmm.....I hate to tell you, but.....it’s “DIVA”! You’re welcome. 😁
@@voraciousreader3341 DAM.....DAM....DAM !!!...I Was One Letter Away From Making My POINT !!!....( As You Can See , Adjustments Have Been Made . Thanks For The Tip !!!..)....
The world's greatest living soprano, Leontyne Price. She is incomparable.
She can be Tina Turner's older sister lol they are so alike 💯
Leontyne Price is the world’s greatest living soprano.
One of the greatest voices in History, 🎵🎶♩🎼
She is speaking the honest truth: so MANY singers have been beating their voices up and pushing way past their voice. They pay the price with vocal destruction, huge wobbles, poor pitch, and yet people still scream "Bravo". The Met today has so many singers who cannot sing one note at at time: wobble city. So sad.
Thank you for posting this! God Bless You!
This is incredible! She is incredible 😇
Lord have mercy. This video should be played everywhere. In a day and age where its acceptable to spit on the flag and shit on your country as the worst place ever, there is Price proud about her flag, proud about her country and proud to be an American. Leontyne who truly lived through a period of real racism, not the exaggerated, emotionally inflated, social-media driven sensational -type racism we have in 2021. And yet there she is, confident in her talents, proud about her country, grateful to her country for the opportunities provided during such a time. And not one complaint... Take notes.
Thank you so much for posting this. I had to watch all 4 parts twice because it was so interesting and I loved hearing about the life and career of this amazing woman.
15-Grammy Awards??? Wow!
I love this woman.
I love her more now because she is unapologetic for her success. She is "superb" and then some. She is self confident, not a diva.
Yes, self-confident.
She's giving me Tina turner vibes hahaha
Not sure there could be two women who were more different.
Those who were able to attend are so lucky. True legend.
Of all the opera singers I have known in my long life she is the most endearing. Just being in her presence was like getting a shot of Adrenalin.
That man can sang
Why disrespect the icon in this manner?
@@SOUNDROTATION I don’t even remember posting this comment, yikes. I wonder if it was someone else I was referring to, because you’re right - Leontyne deserves only plaudits
A living Legend!
She's highly entertaining. Despite her personal preference for Aida, I think Tosca is Ms. Price's greatest role. Her voice is perfect for the music of Tosca.
Let us see your hair.
Power, grace, and dignity ❤❤
